Temecula is known for its rolling hills within beautiful wine country and we cannot think of a better way to enjoy the picturesque scenery this summer than to spend an evening at Thornton Winery listening to the many sounds of its Champagne Jazz Series. The Temecula Insider was invited to the premier event of the season, featuring Jesse Cook, which kicked off the 23rd Annual Champagne Jazz Series, making it the longest running concert series in Temecula.
For those who think attending a jazz concert might not be their cup of tea for a Saturday or Sunday evening out, Thornton Winery does an amazing job featuring fabulous talent that is not always your typical jazz sounds. This was exactly the case as we were entertained by Jesse Cook. His upbeat and charming personality, beautiful vocals and sense of humor was the perfect combination to capture his audience, keep them involved throughout the evening and eventually brought guests to their feet, dancing the night away.
Our evening’s Gourmet Supper Menu consisted of Asparagus, Fava Bean, Rock Shrimp Salad accompanied by a Sweet Bell Pepper Citronette paired with Thornton’s 2009 Viognier, followed by Oven Roasted Natural Chicken Breast, Saffron Risotto Cake, Sauteed Broccolini and Roasted Tomato Garden Herb Sauce with their 2007 Huis Zinfandel. Saving the best for last, we finished off the evening with a delicious Lemon Rosemary Tart with a Fresh Strawberry Compote paired beautifully with Thornton’s 2007 Rose.
The Gourmet Supper Package is prepared by the award-winning Café Champagne and available during each performance. This package includes a reserved table under a covered patio, a three-course meal, tax and gratuity. Reservations are highly recommended because seating is limited. A selection of wines, assorted beer, and bottled water is also available for purchase before and during the concerts.
General admission seating is available in rows of concert-style seats as well as a limited number of small tables for four on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are interested in attending one of this season’s concerts but looking for the budget friendly option we definitely recommend the general admission seating and you can purchase items from the grill ranging from $18 to $21 or even light snacks such as cheese and crackers or cookies.
Ticket prices will vary based on the performer of the evening however General admission will range between $50 and $75 per person while the Gourmet Supper Package begins around $125 per person. Every ticket purchase includes a commemorative 2011 Champagne Jazz Series glass. Season tickets are also available and offer reserved seating and parking.
