Dudleys 3rd Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

Eric_and_Chris_Dudley_webThere must be something magical in the wine, water or air at Dudley’s Wine & Gifts because the moment a person walks through the door, they immediately transform from a customer into a friend.  How does this metamorphosis happen; you ask? Pay attention; I said magically! I am joking, of course.  Long time regulars, of whom there are many, will disclose the magicians’ secret freely: Eric and Chris Dudley genuinely care about people and make it their business to get to know everyone who stops by for a sip, a bottle or a chat.

Add to that a room full of rated wines from around the world offered at an affordable price and you may never want to leave!  With Dudley’s almost nightly line up of reasons to gather, you may never have to:

The Temecula Insider was invited to one such special Friday night event recently - Dudley’s 3rd Anniversary Party - and we were impressed again by Dudley’s warm, relaxed atmosphere.  By the time we arrived, the wine shop was overflowing with friends happy to celebrate Dudley’s success.  With ten tastes of wine and food being offered, we made our way to the bar to “get caught up” with the revelers already enjoying the party.  Chris was quick with a hug and a glass, so we moved on to the true mission of Dudley’s: chatting with friends and making new ones (while sipping wine, of course).

Meanwhile, Eric, a born storyteller, took several opportunities to thank everyone for coming and apologize that the place was so crowded.  We all laughed with him - you have to love a business owner that longs to connect with each of his clients personally.  Though studying for his sommelier certification, Eric’s stories are not of soil and sun and grapes, but of the rich history of wine and the people who drink it.  He does not view his knowledge of wine as a chance to show off, but as an opportunity to share and bring people closer together.

Always happy to support a small business, especially as related to wine, we left with a couple of our favorites from the tasting.  The Bellussi Prosecco Valdobiadene is a lovely Italian Sparkler: a refreshing and perfectly effervescent way to start a party.  Available for just $22, we will be serving the Prosecco at many a gathering in the years to come. Eric introduced us to the Bleadsdale Cabernet many months ago, so we were happy for an opportunity to restock our supply.  This full-bodied Australian Red garnered 90 Points from both Robert Parker and Stephen Tanzer and tastes far more luxurious that its price point of $26 would suggest.  The shop is full of such gems and the Dudley’s will gladly guide you according to your palate and budget.

Dudley’s Wine & Gifts invites you to come as you are, taste exceptional wines and enjoy a story or two in the company of friends.  With that magical combination in the air, I predict that all those who are not currently regulars, soon will be.
