Last Wednesday we visited with Don and Michelle Campini at their brand new wine store, Wine on a Dime. Visible from the freeway, Wine on a Dime is on the north side of the 15, off at Rancho California Road and Jefferson Street. They've only been open for a little over a month but already have quite a following. Even with a struggling economy, people still want to drink good wine... without breaking the bank every time they do it. At Wine on a Dime, great bottles of wine from across the world are offered at a reasonable price point. There is a local section from Temecula wineries along with Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles then a wide selection of wines from Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Italy and Spain. Wine on a Dime can really become your one-stop-shop when searching for wine in Temecula.
Residents of Temecula for years and former owners of Campini's Italian Deli in Old Town Temecula, Don and Michelle have had an extensive background in wines and wine pairings but most importantly, pride themselves on great customer service and making sure each individual had a good experience. When you walk into Wine on a Dime you will instantly be greeted by either Don, Michelle or one of their incredibly knowledgeable staff members. Their main objective is to take the guess work out of shopping for wine.
What sets Wine on a Dime apart from other wine stores is its ten-cent wine tasting. That's right, TEN CENT TASTINGS! No longer do you have to read the bottle's description and hope it tastes the way it sounds. Any day of the week you are invited to sample from the store's featured wines before purchasing. Michelle also adds, "If you don't like it, bring it back... I will drink it!" The Campini's taste every wine before it goes on the shelf at Wine on a Dime so they are confident in the selections sold at their store. Don and Michelle have done their own research and added ‘fun facts' and food pairings for each wine. Don't worry if you're unsure of words like ‘robust' or don't know if you necessarily like your wine with hints of tobacco, black licorice and oak. Don and Michelle made sure their wine descriptions are easy for everyone to understand. If you are looking for a great red to drink with your pepperoni pizza tonight, there is a wine specifically for that!
If you are visiting but aren't really interested in a bottle of wine, Wine on a Dime also offers specialty beers including: Stone Pale Ale, Chimay Ale, Bear Republic, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Hitachino Nest Beer and Horny Devil, which can be purchased individually or in set.
Whether you are looking for a bottle to complete your dinner tonight, a nice bottle to bring as a hostess gift, planning a four-course meal, or just looking for somewhere to go after work for a glass of wine or a beer, Wine on a Dime is the place to go for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
