(951) 676-7305 Nothing says summer time like live music, fire pits and a backyard BBQ. Public House has an ambiance and energy that matches that feeling year-round. Old Town Temecula's very own gastro-pub blends locally grown products, wines and microbrews with a relaxing atmosphere, giving patrons a spot to relax and enjoy entertainment all at once. At first glance, Public House can be deceiving as a bar/restaurant as it's actually an historic old house on Main Street in Old Town Temecula and appears that it would sell antiques, rather than appetizers. But upon entering, the converted restaurant takes on an entirely new feel, from the cozy inside dining area to the expansive backyard that comes alive with music and mingling. Fire pits and table seating cover the outdoor patio, and a corner stage is home to live music on the weekends. While the occasional dance party breaks out, the overall attitude is laid-back and perfect for socializing over a drink. The music isn't too loud, the people are down-to-earth and the service is always friendly. Those looking for a full meal will NOT be disappointed. Not only are the portions generous, but the price can't be beat for what you get. Favorites like the Daily Mac & Cheese and Reuben Goes Public are under $15, and assorted salads, meat entrees and pasta give enough options for whatever your taste buds are craving. You can't go wrong with go-to appetizers like the On the Med and Public House Fries (in Salt & Vinegar, Thymed Blue or Sweetly Spicy), and there's even a specialized menu for the kids under $10. The menu is seasonal, giving patrons alternative menu options every few months. Beverage portions are excellent as well; 8 oz wine pours and 20 oz. beer pours make the already great selection of drinks even more enjoyable. Keep in mind the bar tends to be stocked with non-traditional microbrews and some local wineries, as well-a perfect match for some of the local companies suppling the menu ingredients. And just in time for summer is the White Sangria, adorned with fresh fruit that tastes as good as it looks. With the expanding nightlife and restaurant scene in Old Town Temecula, Public House is a definite winner not only for its stellar menu and beverage selection, but for its overall atmosphere. Even on a Saturday night when the partiers are in full force up and down Front Street, you can count on Public House to be a non-pretentious, low-key environment where you can socialize and sip a cocktail without worrying about a dress code or dance floor. Temecula Insider Tip: If you're going to eat dinner Thursday - Sunday, arrive early. Seating is limited and tends to fill up quickly. Although the wait is worth it and the staff is attentive and accommodating, getting a jump start on dinner ensures a place to sit and relax once the crowds arrive and entertainment begins.
