Opened in November of 2007, Old Town Spice Merchants in Old Town Temecula is known to locals and tourists alike as offering high quality herbs and spices as seasonings, custom rubs and blends as well as a large selection of loose-leaf teas and honey made by Temecula Valley Honey Company.

As we walked in to meet with Anthony and hear more about this aromatic heaven, we were blown away by just how many spices were on display. Covering the walls of the entire shop was everything from single spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, paprika and sugar to a variety of spice blends such as Cranberry Maple Rub, Fiesta Chili, Raspberry Chipotle, Tuscan Blend and Hunter's Game Blend...just to name a few. You can walk around the store for hours thinking of all the recipes you want to use with these spices or owners Sue and Anthony Del Bono have taken some of the guesswork out of cooking and made it easy by offering meal suggestions on each spice package.

If cooking isn't your thing but you love drinking tea, Old Town Spice Merchants is the place to go with a bigger selection than we have seen anywhere else. If you like black tea maybe you would be interested in the Acai Pomegranate, Orange Jasmine or Peach Caramel tea. If you prefer green teas you should try their best seller, Green Tropical Tea with guava, strawberry and pineapple. If you stick to the popular herbal teas then the Chamomile Citrus Blossom, Orange Passion Fruit and Bassa Blood Orange are a few to try. You can even put together the perfect gift package in one of the Old Town Spice Merchants wooden gift boxes, at no extra charge.

Old Town Spice Merchants sells most of its items by the ounce, however you can also buy larger or smaller quantities. Now when that recipe calls for just a ‘dash' of something you know where to go! Prices range from $1.99 to $4.59 per ounce which can end up being cheaper than a grocery store and definitely fresher and you won't be wasting what you know you won't use.
